This Week at UPA

Worship November 19th

Scripture:  Genesis 1:1-2:3
Lesson:  Sabbath

So often we hear that youth (generally teenagers) have no interest in church, worship, or our programs.  We hear tell that they are not inspired by worship and that the lessons of our faith aren’t relevant.

Clearly they don’t know UPA youth.

Last weekend eight of our middle and high school youth accompanied by Anine and Matt spent two overnights and two days at Silver Lake Conference Center in Sharon, CT learning and reflecting on the faith concept of Sabbath. They did low ropes courses, sang songs, created skits, made LOTS of new friends (including some from right next door at Union Church in Waban!) and worshiped together all within a theme of renewal and divine Sabbath.

This Sunday our UPA Youth Group will bring their experience of faith transformation to us by leading us in worship! Come to UPA worship with an open heart and spirit ready to receive God’s love and joy from the deep faith of our young folks!

See you then!
Cheryl

Thanksgiving offering
Outreach has designated World Central Kitchen as the Thanksgiving offering this year.
Founded in 2010 World Central Kitchen responds to natural disasters, man-made crises, and humanitarian emergencies around the world. We’re a team of food first responders, mobilizing with the urgency of now to get meals to the people who need them most. Deploying our model of quick action, leveraging local resources, and adapting in real time, we know that a nourishing meal in a time of crisis is so much more than a plate of food—it’s hope, it’s dignity, and it’s a sign that someone cares.

Live Stream Information
We will continue streaming our worship on both Zoom and Facebook Live. Please share these links with your friends. Bear in mind that we cannot share the Zoom links publicly (to keep from being Zoom bombed), so please share it person to person rather than posting it on Facebook/Twitter, or other public social media. It’s fine to share the Facebook link broadly and publicly. For zoom login information please reach out to Pastor Cheryl at cheryl@newtonchurch.org.

Note: that we continue to work on streaming as we make improvements to the sanctuary sound system.
