This Week at UPA

Sunday, August 7th

ALL NEWTON UCC WORSHIP SERVICE! WORSHIP BEGINS AT 9:30AM.

This week I’m so excited to be worshiping together with all of our Newton UCC churches in one place! In this time and place, with injustice and resulting suffering seemingly in every corner of our culture, it is important that we find ways to come together, support one another, and share in each others’ ministries.  Amazingly, The City of Newton has 5 separate UCC churches, each with their own missions, personalities and challenges. Separately we are addressing everything from food scarcity to equitable housing to racism, homophobia, and gender bias. Imagine how we might participate in the expansion of Christ’s table if we were to join together in these efforts of our faith?

Dr. Luti is a retired pastor and seminary professor (Andover Newton Theological School, now Andover Newton Seminary at Yale), historian, and the author of Teresa of Avila’s Way (Liturgical Press, 1991). She is an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ and was recognized for outstanding teaching by the United Church of Christ at its 2011 General Synod.

Message: “What’s Communion For?”
Guest preacher: The Rev. Dr. J. Mary Luti
