October 12 Worship

Scripture: Luke 17:11-19
Message: A Broken Body Made Whole

Our gospel passage this Sunday is the story of Jesus healing the 10 “lepers” (our translation uses “skin desease”). While there is so much to unpack about this wonderful story of faith and inclusion, what struck me this reading was the image of these outcast and broken bodies begging to be healed by the one who’s broken body will eventually symbolize the healing of all of humanity. And then I got thinking about the holiness in our brokenness and the new life that comes with healing.

I’ll be quoting from both of Cole Arthur Riley’s chapters, “Body” and “Belonging” as well as breaking down some of the context of the gospel passage. Can’t wait to see you all on Sunday!

Don’t forget about the Symposium on Christian Nationalism this weekend (info and QR codes to more info below!) and our book study coming up again AT MY HOUSE next week (also, info below.) Peace and blessings to you all!

See you on Sunday!
Peace,
Cheryl
