May 3 Worship

Scripture: John 14:1-14
Message: The Great “I Am”

This Sunday we get the PRIVILEGE of hearing John 14: “I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” It is unfortunate that for generations this scripture has been used to define what it is to be a “Christian” for the sake of excluding all other members of God’s creation from divine grace. In fact, this passage says anything but exclusion, turning us towards something outside and other than the person (and religion that this person would come to represent) it claims to idolize.

Did I just say that Christianity has come to idolize Jesus Christ himself? Oh yes I did! I’m going to open this up much wider from the pulpit this Sunday. In the face of a crisis in Christianity where too many are clinging desperately to Jesus as THE ONLY way, truth and life, you aren’t going to want to miss this sermon!

Additionally, it will be Soo’s last Sunday with us for this program year so we will celebrate her! The good news is that Soo will be returning next year though in a very different capacity. During her time here with us she’s begun to discern a call to children’s and youth ministry and so will be working more with Matt and Elle.

See you Sunday!
Peace,
Cheryl
