Scripture: John 17: 1-11
Message: A Conversation Between Jesus and Barabbas
Friends, we’re coming to the end of this program year which, of course, does NOT mean that we are done worshipping together (our summer worship time moves to the *air conditioned* Parish Hall and takes on a more casual and fun feel!) but DOES mean we get to celebrate our youth and children and their growth and learning from this past year. We’ll have Senior Sermons (May 31st) and Children’s Sunday (June 7th) neither of which you’ll want to miss!
Also, though, for us adults it’s a reminder of time passed. Our young adults who are graduating college right now were my first class of high school graduates here at UPA! Could it really already be 5 years later? And these men and women! They left us 4 years ago so young and hopeful, innocent though prepared for what was to come. And today? They are educated in both academics and life and ready to be sent out into the world!
And we have a brand new class of High School graduates too! How does time go by so quickly? And how can we measure the care and compassion we offer to our young ones with each year? It feels as if we are just watching now as each of these bright kids takes off before us; another generation leaving with our care, instruction, and hope attached to their wings. I am grateful for this church’s guidance along the way (especially as one of these High School graduates is my own Ethan!) knowing that our youth and young adults are prepared to share in the world’s trials and joys while sharing of their own learned faith and mercy.
This Sunday Rev. Matt is preaching (with a little assistance from me!) See you then!
Peace,
Cheryl
