Lessons: John 3:1-17
Message: Living the Mystery
This Sunday, the second Sunday of our Lenten Season, we will consider the oft quoted John text, John 3:16 (“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.”) and its surrounding context. For decades this passage has been held up as the theme of all of Jesus’ ministry and the gospel “in a nutshell.” As a result, however, it has also been misused and misappropriated for exclusionary Christian communities and their desire for greater power. Therefore it comes with baggage with which many of us struggle. And yet, there is so much meaning in the verses around this particular passage – including this passage!
Join us this Sunday when we take a deeper dive into Jesus’ thoughts on new life and salvation and the mystery of God’s love that encompasses us all!
See you Sunday!
Peace,
Cheryl
