Message: You Don’t Have to Believe
Blessings and grace to you all in this most sacred and holy week. I cannot encourage you enough to join us for our Maundy Thursday service of communion and tenebrae this Thursday evening, March 28th, beginning at 7:00pm. The purpose of this service is to bring us into the scene and story of Jesus’ trial, conviction, hanging and death so that we might experience the fear, suffering and grief of the original followers of Jesus.
On Good Friday, March 29th, from 12:00pm -3:00pm UPA’s sanctuary will be set up with 7 prayer stations for you to walk through, read the story of Jesus’ passion and death along, each reading including a prayer. There will be quiet reflective music playing in the background and you’re invited to take as long as you need at each station or just in the sanctuary. Scripture tells us that Jesus was hung on the cross at noon and died at 3pm and so, at 3 we will close the doors and ring the bell to indicate the initiation of our hours of grief.
Finally, on Sunday, March 31st at 10:00am join us for our Easter Celebration, where we shout “He is risen!” and honor the New Life that Jesus’ resurrection symbolizes! Worship will include a brass quintet, Children and Youth Choir, and an Easter Egg hunt after the service!
