Message: MATE work campers to share about their experience at work camp this week

Dear UPA friends,
Peace to you! Cheryl and I are off with 16 other UPA youth and adults at a work camp in the Farmington, Maine area this week. Many thanks to UPA’s Board of Education and Board of Outreach for their generous support in subsidizing this trip and making it affordable for families and all participants. Thanks to the Auction 50/50 raffle planners, and to everyone who donated to this trip, during our Father’s Day bake sale, or just because you believe in the mission that we are doing.

Our group is repairing homes for families and individuals in need in rural Maine. We are partnering with MATE, a non-profit in Maine that helps community members in Maine stay in their homes by conducting critical home repairs they otherwise could not afford. This housing repair ministry serves Maine residents dealing with financial and other difficult and systemic challenges. The repairs that volunteers carry-out each summer are critical, enabling our neighbors to stay in warm, healthy and safe environments, and avoid falling into the devastating cycle of homelessness.

This Sunday during worship, in place of a traditional reflection, we are inviting the MATE work campers to share about their experience at work camp this week. Come, support our youth and adult work campers! It’s often said of work camp experiences, “some give by going, others go by giving.” This church has given generously to support this mission and others in need. Thank you for your continued support and the mission-driven vision of this community that drives us to be of service as we seek first God’s kingdom (kin-dom) in this world.

With deep gratitude for all your support,
Matt
