July 12 Worship

Scripture: John 17:6-19
Message: The Safe Bet

Alas, the Kerr-Santos are off to the Jersey Shore this weekend! We all have our happy places and this is mine. I joke about how these are “my people” though I imagine that if you joined me for just a day you’d wonder about that. Jersey shore folks are loud and entitled. They smoke cigars on the beach, yell conversations from one blanket to another, are on the beach setting up their multi-gen family’s beach chairs in an enormous circle by 6:00am and will defend their teen kids drinking on the beach with 200 other teen kids despite the curfew. AND they’ll include your coffee in their Wawa purchases without comment, assume they are invited for cocktails (of course they are), sit right down with you on your patio and introduce themselves, and share their kite with your kids without anyone having to ask. These are good and utterly imperfect people, just like us all. And I can’t wait to be with them!

These next couple of Sundays you will be graced by our Faith Formation Specialist, Elle Wilson, as our guest worship leader and preacher! She has promised a 2 part series on prayer and I look forward to hearing what she has to say.

See you in August!
Peace,
Cheryl
