Lesson: Isaiah 9:1-4, Matthew 4:12-23
Message: Tea in Dark Times
Welcome to January… when it’s cold and dark and cold and … dark… and when it’s … cold. Clearly, I’m not a fan of the cold. Not to say that New England winters don’t have their redeeming qualities! I know some of you are ski bunnies and others absolutely LOVE standing rink-side watching your kids play mediocre hockey. For many of us, however, these winter days when the sun only makes itself known for several hours of the day, are challenging, to say the least. Sun is our lifeblood.
Our scripture this Sunday is Matt’s version of the calling of the disciples. Jesus calls Andrew and Peter, James and John away from their fathers, their livelihood and their life to abide within a new life that is a life revealed by light.
I wonder how we might use our call to see light during these dark days. I wonder how this gift of faith and hope can reveal hope to the world. Join me on Sunday in person or via livestream where we’ll consider these questions and more!
See you Sunday!
