Message: A Brighter Light
This Sunday is February and Communion AND ANNUAL MEETING! All of these things may SEEM like they have nothing in common but, of course, they DO (except maybe February…) Communion is our coming together to feed off of the Holy Spirit that blesses us whenever we come together in humble hope and vision and grace. This includes the contemplative and prayerful sacrament of communion but also our board meetings, connections over coffee, worship, and, yes, Annual Meeting. Friends, UPA is doing some really exciting things right now and has vision and hope for even more exciting things! I hope you will join us after worship (either in person or on zoom!) this Sunday as we plan, resolve, hope, remember and celebrate all that we did last year and all that we hope to be this year!
In worship we will be continuing our conversation around Jesus’ sermon on the Mount where he presents a different view of power and community. It can be hard to shift our perspective from one our world and culture nourishes and encourages, but Jesus tells us that, despite the world’s insistence, each of us is blessed equally and infinitely, no one light is brighter than another!
Just a couple of other notes for your calendars:
- We will begin our first of the year Adult RE experience this evening, Feb. 1st on zoom, 7:30 – 8:30pm. See below for the zoom link and more information!
- Sunday, Feb. 5th is our Annual Meeting. PLEASE PLAN ON ATTENDING! It is so important that we do this good work for the sake of the church but, per our polity, we cannot do it without you!
