This Sunday is our annual “Welcome Back!” Sunday when we restart our children’s programming, institute additional adult faith formation options, EAT BRUNCH thanks to our Community Board, and generally celebrate the amazing community that is United Parish of Auburndale.
There’s a lot of chatter out there that asks (but it’s more of a statement than a question) what is the purpose of going to church? Maybe some of us wonder this as well, as more delicious options like travel, kids’ activities, or even just sleeping-in tempts us away. Why do we continue to celebrate the work of this church by showing up on Sunday, attending faith formation opportunities, service on a board or committee (or several- you know who you are!), giving our time and talents for things like event planning, the Pumpkin Patch, and our art gallery? I imagine that we all have very different answers to this question but, I see this as an intentional community that practices kindness, intergenerational community, and otherwise being a people of God. Because the world is in need of people who understand love and all the ways it can be applied and received.
This Sunday join us (and bring your neighbors!) to celebrate this sacred coming together!
