Scriptures: Genesis 24:58-67 and Matthew 11:16-19, 25-30
Message: Salt then sour then sweet
“Come to me, all you who are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matt 11:28-30)
These are famous words for a weary world that has to hold the light and the dark and every shade in between on our shoulders. Jesus reminds us that certainly being human is no easy job but that we can find solace with him. Indeed, we’ve already heard of this struggle through the several stories of Abraham and his progeny that we’ve covered thus far this summer.
Join us this Sunday as we hear from both Genesis (about Isaac having a wife chosen for him) and Matthew and then wonder about what it really means to live fully into this utterly imperfect life.
