This Sunday marks our move from the Sanctuary into the Parish Hall/Gallery which means: Summer Worship! I just love Summer worship because we have an excuse to play with music, interpretation, and even the order of our worship. Matt and I have decided, for these Summer Sundays, to preach on the stories of the patriarch. These stories begin with Abraham and Sarah’s impossible pregnancy and the birth of their son Issac and end with Joseph’s prophetic role both among his brothers and before the very first inklings of the people of Israel.
I love these stories because, in large part, they are the history that brings Islam, Judaism and Christianity together. Of course we all have our “spin off” (midrash) stories, explanations, and interpretations, however, remembering that we come from the same people can serve as a beginning to a wider understanding of each other’s faith beliefs and values.
Just a couple of reminders about our summer worship:
- There is no Sunday School, HOWEVER, we have a pray-ground in the back both within view and hearing of the service
- We have air conditioning!
- Fellowship after worship is pared down just a bit.
