March 8 Worship

Scripture: John 4:5-42
Message: The Audacity of Humility

We are taught from a young age that humility is smallness. Especially, we women learn early on that being humble requires that we put everyone else’s needs and lives before our own to the point of diminishing ourselves – both figuratively and physically.

Imagine, then, this non-Jewish woman – a Samaritan – likely well aware of her “place” in society, especially in the presence of Jesus, a man, having the audacity to enter into conversation that does not dismiss her own humanity while recognizing his.

Imagine having the audacity to be humble enough to both name our own humanity while recognizing another’s?

This Sunday we’ll be reading one of my favorite gospel stories, the woman at the well. I hope you will join us for this 3rd Sunday of Lent.

See you then!
Peace,
Cheryl
