Scripture: Jeremiah 31:27-34
Message: Written on Our Hearts
2025 marks the 175th anniversary of the founding of the Auburndale Congregational Church, the 165th anniversary of Centenary United Methodist Church, and the 45th year of the Federation creating the United Parish of Auburndale. Special exhibits from the church’s rich archives highlight some of this history and the history of our Auburndale Community. The exhibits will be up during October and November. Note there will be additions and changes during this time, so feel free to view them again.
On Sunday, October 19, 2025, there will be a special anniversary service, followed by a special coffee hour and a brief PowerPoint presentation by Sherwood Norton on the church’s history.
In the spring, members voted for an anniversary project to commemorate this event. Chosen were illumination of the large stained glass window behind the organ above the front doors of the church and replacement of the sign at the corner of Woodland Road and Grove Street. Proposals for these projects are being finalized and the design of the new sign prepared by our member/architect Paul Dudek.
This Sunday we will be recognizing the long and blessed history of the United Parish of Auburndale! Come and sing your favorite hymns as well as some of our historic sung responses (anyone remember the Gloria Patri and Old 100th Doxology?) Our scripture is one many know, the beautiful New Covenant from the book of Jeremiah, when the people of God are allowed back to the land that was Israel and Judah and God promised that all would be forgiven and that this would be their fresh new start. It is where God, through the prophet, commits to peace with humanity by writing the law “On our hearts.” Join me this Sunday as we consider this scripture from a perspective of history and God’s vision for the UPA going forward.
See you on Sunday!
Peace,
Cheryl
