Message: How Can We Sing?
Good morning and good day! As I write the news is swirling with talk of a government shutdown because our elected officials can’t communicate over the partisan jabs and top military officials met to hear about new misogynistic and anti-trans and queer regulations in the military. Meanwhile, the air outside is crisp with the feel of fall and I have two puppies curled up and snoring at my feet. How can life be so hard and so good all at the same time? And yet it is. Because God never stops loving us – never stops offering grace upon grace to us. Because above all the clatter of this world is the very truth that we are beloved! Hold this close to your hearts this week and next. Take time to breathe deeply ingesting this divine love. It is, after all, what gives us life!
This week Matt is preaching on Psalm 137 which asks the very real question, how can we sing the Lord’s song in a foreign land? How can we sing when we don’t even recognize what this country has become?
