Scripture: John 17:20-26
Message: There Is Still A Chance
“And when the broken hearted people living in the world agree
There will be an answer, let it be
For though they may be parted, there is still a chance that they will see
There will be an answer, let it be” – Lennon/McCartney
Are we not broken-hearted watching the taking-over of our democracy and the militarization of our cities. Does it not part us one from another to know that the unhoused population is being “disappeared” from their communities and support systems? What are we to do – who are we to be – for the sake of healing and hope?
Jesus prays these words to the Divine Father: “…the world does not know you, but I know you, and these know that you have sent me. I made your name known to them, and I will make it known, so that the love with which you have loved me may be in them and I in them.”
This Sunday, the last of our “Faith in Pop Music” series, we will all join in singing “Let it Be” by John Lennon and Paul McCartney while asking the question, “What is the potential of this divine love for us and within us?”
See you Sunday!
Peace,
Cheryl
