Message: Micah 6:6-8
Scripture: Small Hands, Big Heart
It’s so hard to appreciate just how important our individual efforts are to an exceptionally large task. Whether we’re concerned about poverty, racism, elder care, or even the project of democracy that is this country, I often find myself asking, “what good can my small effort do in this extraordinary challenge? The people of Israel wondered the same thing as they watched the Assyrians, led by their boastful and arrogant King Sennacherib take over their monarchy and land. They looked to God in the midst of what felt like their own demise and asked, what would you have us do?! Through the prophet, Micah, God answered plain and simple, be kind and humble for the sake of justice.
This Sunday we’ll study Micah’s prophecy through the lens of the lyrics from the song “Hands” written and sung by a prophet of our own time, singer/songwriter Jewel.
See you Sunday!
Peace,
Cheryl
