Scriptures: Luke 6:27-38
Message: Loving The Unlovable
Well if this scripture doesn’t speak right to us all… One of the hardest things to do right now in this current cultural and political space is to Love. I mean, we can love those who love us back and we can certainly shower the marginalized with our faith founded love. But Jesus is calling us to a different, harder kind of love – to love our “enemies.”
This week at the “Love is the Way” book study we talked about how much easier it is to go into a situation with judgement rather than humility and curiosity. If we assume we know someone, their reasons, and their driving force we can justify our judgment and, therefore, better control our own environment. But what if, instead, we love this person in a way that assumes their humanity? What doors would that open toward unity in this divided world?
See you Sunday!
Peace,
Cheryl
