Message: THE CHRISTMAS PAGEANT!
YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY!
This Sunday, the 3rd Sunday of Advent, is our Children’s Christmas Pageant! Not only do we get to hear the story of Jesus’ birth shared by our children and youth, but we get to SEE the story acted out through their interpretation. There’s something to be said for experiencing the stories of our scripture through different voices and bodies and this tradition is just such an occasion. I remember being young and feeling the anticipation of the coming pageant. All the girls wanted to be Mary but you had to be at least in middle school to play that role (because she carried and held a real baby) so we’d look admiringly at her and imagine some day when it would be our turn. The privilege of holding the Emmanuel while the story swirls around the two of you, the entire congregation staring in awe and kindness and joy, was more than any 12 year old child could ever ask for.
This Sunday we get to lift up our young ones to the place of privilege that is holding the greatest story of our faith. I can’t wait!
See you Sunday!
Peace,
Cheryl
