Scripture: Mark 10:35-45
Message: Jesus’s Favorite Kid
This Sunday we get to think about how tempting it is to imagine that we are more beloved by God than another or even that we can become more beloved by what we do or how we practice our faith. We’ll hear this story about the last being first again and ask ourselves how this plays into our relationships with those around us, our neighbors who think and practice differently than ourselves.
ALSO THOUGH Pastor Matt and I MAY HAVE A SMALL SURPRISE up our sleeve for the Children’s message so you’re gonna want to bring ALL the littles you have or no – not to mention the Littles-at-Heart!
Also ALSO we are so excited to be celebrating new members this Sunday! Please please come to welcome these new folks into our community as they -and we- recommit ourselves to a life of faith formation together!
FINALLY, don’t forget about our book study on White Christian Nationalism this month with Jim Wallace’s book, The False White Gospel: rejecting Christian Nationalism, restoring true faith, and refounding democracy. Discussions will be held at 2nd Church in West Newton on October 17, 2024 (chapters 3-4, and October 24, 2024 (rest of book). Of course you are welcome to join the discussion having not read the book as I know it will be insightful.
See you Sunday!
Peace,
Cheryl
