Scripture: Mark 5:25-34
Message: Beloved
Good morning and blessings to all of us!
This Sunday we will recognize Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his seemingly fearless faith in the power of equity created in a love that is non-violent and asks nothing more than to be seen as beloved. The story we get to consider this through is that of the hemorrhaging woman. Maybe it feels awkward to use such a circumstance as an example of healing and faith and equity but it certainly was not to Jesus nor to the men who compiled Jesus’ story and ministry for the gospel of Mark. And, while this story is much greater and wider and deeper than just that of a very sick woman being healed, that this story exists in our holy scripture says something profound and definitive about the place of women (including our very specific health issues) in the Beloved Community.
Mark your calendars for next Sunday, January 21st when The Rev. Nizzi Digan, our UMC Commonwealth East District Superintendent will bless us with her presence in our worship, pulpit, and then after worship for our Centenary UMC Charge Conference!
See you Sunday!
Peace,
Cheryl
