Lesson: Genesis 25:19-34
Message: Kids And Their Antics
Good morning and blessings of summer to you all! It is officially mid-summer and I can only hope you are all resting, spending time with family, neighbors and friends, and generally rejuvenating your spirit! In my house we’ve had an abundance of (and in some cases unexpected) international travel. As you know, our entire family spent the first three weeks of the summer together in Brazil but since then one child went to visit a friend in Germany and another was invited to join his girlfriend and her family in Sweden for a week. Both of these overlapped by a few days leaving us with just one child at home and…
… quiet. So. Much. Quiet.
As perfect as my kids are, they also have the odd competitive thing between them that has them counting who has walked the dog most that week, who had the most minutes per day on the XBox, who left dirty dishes in the living room, sun room, bed room, I mean, any room except the kitchen, and who has received the most favor from mom and dad. This “sibling rivalry” is no new thing, but, as our scripture tells it, has been around for generations. What is happening in these moments of competition and one-uping each other? What is happening in this interesting story of trickery and birthright
We’ll talk about this and more this Sunday in our AIR CONDITIONED Parish Hall worship. See you then!
Peace,
Cheryl
